15 miles west of Downtown Augusta lies the city of Grovetown. Located in southern Columbia County, Grovetown is a community that is growing exponentially. This is mainly due to the U.S. Army installation, Fort Gordon, becoming the headquarters of the U.S. Army Cyber Command.

If you are in town for the Masters Golf Tournament a little early, be sure to check out Spring Fest in Grovetown, going on April 1. This family affair is an annual event, celebrating the coming of spring and features food, games, vendors, prizes, and more.

Historic sites in Grovetown

If you are a fan of history and have some free time during your stay in Grovetown, visit the Grovetown Museum. Proclaimed as a hidden gem of Columbia County, the Grovetown Museum offers four galleries with detailed exhibits of the history of the Grovetown area inside a restored 100-year-old building. Walkthroughs are free, and they are open Thursdays through Saturdays.

  • Grovetown Trails at Euchee Creek
    • Experience several walking trails with scenic views designed for walking, running, and cycling.
  • Goodale Park
    • Named after Vietnam War veteran Joseph Daniel "Danny" Goodale Jr., Goodale park offers patrons a basketball court, a dog park, a multi-purpose field, a playground, a walking track, some tennis courts, and multiple picnic tables under shelter.

Transportation Options

If you are flying into the tournament, you will most likely need to obtain a rental car upon your arrival. Public transportation options in Grovetown are slim. You can, however, rely on a service like Uber or Lyft if you do not want to use a rental car. Both rideshare services are abundant throughout the Augusta area.
