Things to love about Augusta local life

Each year as the first full week of April comes around, it seems like the entirety of the world casts their gaze on Augusta National Golf Club for the Masters Golf Tournament. Although the eyes of the world are focused on Augusta for one week of the year, the city and surrounding area is not a ghost town for the other 51 weeks.

Augusta has experienced exponential growth over recent years with its establishment as America’s Cyber Capital, it’s booming retail and industrial expansion and a continuous growing medical and residential community. This progressive growth in the Augusta area has brought a wealth of new locations and activities to do in the area with each passing year!

In Augusta, we feel good, and there’s so much to love about the Garden City and everything available in the area. At Masters Housing Bureau, we wanted to highlight some of our favorite things we love about Augusta and the local life for those planning to visit the city for leisure or for the Masters Golf Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club.

There’s something for every Augusta visitor

Augusta has great food, bars and restaurants, entertainment venues, museums and golf courses that offers our visitors plenty to do in their leisure time. Beyond the spoils of great food, drinks and entertainment, Augusta also has a unique canal experience that flows downtown and is stacked with history, beauty and nature.

Play golf in Augusta

You know another local thing we love about Augusta at Masters Housing Bureau? Golf. I know… what a big surprise, but Augusta IS golf and it shouldn’t be alarming that the area is surrounded by world-class golf courses, both public and private.

Don’t miss the opportunity to play the only club in the world featuring three individually designed courses by Arnold Palmer, Gary Player and Jack Nicklaus. The three, 9-hole courses are located among 365 faultless acres of Georgia pines, long-standing hardwoods and numerous wetlands along the great Savannah River.

If you like a more old-school feel, the 18-hole "Augusta" course at the Augusta Municipal Golf Course facility in Augusta, Georgia features 6,056 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par 72. This historic course opened in 1926 and is affectionately known as the Patch. The Augusta National Golf Clubs next-door neighbor, the Augusta Country Club, opened in 1899 and has stood the test of time for 121 years. There are also three courses on Fort Gordon, the home of the U.S. Army Cyber Command.

You'll find courses designed by the late Joseph Lee, who designed more than 200 courses in his 40-year career, Thomas Fazio, one of America's top course designers, Fuzzy Zoeller, Gary Player, Tom Jackson and Jim Fazio. However, you can view the entire directory of local golf courses on our website.
