Preparing Your Home for Rent with Masters Housing Bureau – a Timeline
Renting your home through the Masters Housing Bureau can be extremely advantageous, but it is important to know when to start the process of renting your home through us and how you can best prepare it for the patrons of the Masters Golf Tournament.
For this purpose, we have organized and presented a helpful, easy-to-read timeline for your benefit.
December – January
- List your home with us.
The first step is to simply list your home with us at Masters Housing Bureau. We make this a smooth process through our website. It would be best to achieve this step as soon as possible so we can assist you through the rest of the process of renting your home.
- If you already have a listing, confirm the information on the listing is correct.
If you have rented your home with us in the past, we will continue to have your listing on our website. Be sure that you confirm that the information on your listing is still correct and edit any information that may have changed over the past year about your home whether it be amenities, services, extra fees, or any other information that will help your guest for the coming year.
- Post or update the photos of your home.
In addition to general information, be sure to update any visual information you have provided in your listing as well. It would not be beneficial to a guest to see an old photo of the house they will be staying in. Legitimacy is very important to us at Masters Housing Bureau. If you need some tips to get better photos of your home, visit our Guide to Better Photos page.
February – March
- Repair any hazards
Make sure you inspect your home for any potential safety hazards such as loose pieces of tile or a loose step. Assess any possible dangers that could occur in your home and tend to them as soon as possible. Make this the incentive to finish that pesky around the house to-do list. This would also be a good time to make sure that all light fixtures inside and outside the house are in working order. Pro tip: leave extra light bulbs and let your guest know where they are just in case.
- Stock up on supplies
The cleaning service you use for Masters Week may not provide supplies. If this is the case, it would be a good idea to stock up, especially on cleaning supplies that fit your home. Get rug cleaners if you have carpet, and obtain the supplies you would need to clean hardwood floors if you have them. Make sure your vacuum is in working condition and reliable.
Bathroom supplies are always needed and run out super quickly. Genderless bath soap, toilet tissue, and face tissues should be at the top of the list for extra supplies.
Extra linens are also a must. This includes bath and hand towels, sheets, and pillowcases. It is often smarter to purchase two of each linen per guest. It’s always smarter to have more than you need in cases like this.
The week before the tournament
- Leave well-written instructions
Leave a set of well-written instructions for the use of essential electronic devices associated with the house such as access to the internet, the heating and air system, the cable system, the dishwasher, and the washing machine and dryer, among other things you deem important to know for the guest. This could include a list of local hospitals, clinics, 24-hour grocery shops, and more.
Make a list of contact numbers where you or a family member can be reached in case of emergency. Also, make sure the Masters Housing Bureau has your preferred service providers including your electrician and plumber, as well as the location of the shutoff valves for water, electricity, and gas lines.
- Deep clean your house
A week or two before your guest arrives, you should perform a deep clean on your home, inside and out. This can be carried out by you if you have the materials or a reputable professional cleaning service. Every detail should be preened, leaving a no-doubt immaculate home.
Now, it is time to inspect the outside of your home. Your lawn may need some sprucing up, so contact your lawn care service to bring out the best of your outdoor areas for springtime in Augusta, Georgia. Consider any outdoor projects that need to be done to give your house a home away from home feel for your incoming guest.
- Before you leave
Coordinate with the renter on providing them with the key to your home or any additional materials they may need. In addition, be sure Masters Housing Bureau has a list of your emergency contacts as well.
A courteous finishing touch is to leave a bountiful welcome basket for your guest. This is a good spot to place your special instructions so your guest will obtain it.
