Masters Prep

It takes a lot of hard work to get your home ready, but the trouble is worth the reward. From deep cleaning, to emptying your closets to rearranging your furniture to providing maid service, the list goes on and on. Seasoned renters have their own systems and can prepare their homes quickly, but even those with years of experience will tell you it takes time and attention to detail.

That’s why a checklist can go a long way in keeping you sane and organized while you go about prepping your home for the Masters Golf Tournament. Luckily for you, we have some tips for your very own checklist.

The Checklist

  • Bedrooms
    • Remove personal items from bureaus and nightstands, especially photos.
    • Purchase extra hangers and place them in each bedroom closet.
    • Make beds with linens specially purchased for the renters.
    • Make children’s bedrooms be as adult as possible by removing their personal items and linens.
  • Bathrooms
    • Place new bathmats or rugs in each bathroom.
    • Place new clean towels and linens in each bathroom.
    • Replenish the supply of toilet paper and make sure there’s enough stock for the whole week.
  • Kitchen
    • Supply enough dishes, silverware, and pots and pans for the maximum number of guests you host.
    • Clean out your coffee maker, teapot, and toaster to make them like new for your guests.
    • Provide enough basic seasonings and food items like sugar, salt, and butter.
    • To enhance your guests’ visit, you can stock your refrigerator and pantry with some basic food items like bread, milk, cereal, juice, and coffee.
  • Laundry Room
    • Leave extra sheets and blankets in the laundry room just in case of emergency.
    • Make sure your ironing board and iron are easily accessible.
  • Living Room/Den
    • Leave well-written instructions for operation of appliances and electronics, including TVs, remote controls, DVRs, DVDs, music sound system, and access to WI-FI.
    • Leave some board games and card games for your guests to play.
  • Outside
    • If you have a pool, make sure to supply plenty of beach towels and clean, good-quality chairs for your guests.
    • Wipe down your grill.
    • Make sure your front lawn and backyard are mown and your windows are clean.

In addition to this checklist, you need to deep clean your home, inside and out. Most experts recommend you hire a reputable professional cleaning service. Make sure you do this a week or two before Masters Week.
