Packing for the Masters Golf Tournament

The Masters Golf Tournament continually tops the bucket list of golf fans around the world. As one of the most prestigious sporting events in the world, there are a bunch of rules that patrons must follow to be admitted onto the grounds.

This includes items that you can and cannot bring with you into the Augusta National. You will want to spend some time preparing what you are going to wear and bring with you, so you are not turned away at the gates

Attire

It is often recommended to dress like you are playing at the tournament, meaning collared shirts and long pants or golf shorts for men. Women often wear sundresses, capri pants, or a modest blouse.

You will end up being on your feet for a majority of the day. Comfortable shoes are a must! For women, nice sneakers or comfortable wedges will work. For men, sporty loafers or boat shoes, or non-flashy low top sneakers will help you feet stay comfortable throughout the day.

Avoid graphic t-shirts, spaghetti straps, denim jeans, or anything that’s tight-fitting, low cut, or too bright. Keeping an eye on the weather forecast is key to your comfortability throughout the day. Choose an extra layer that you won’t mind carrying as the day heats up.

Protection from the elements

Whether the sun is beating down on you or rain clouds are gathering, you will need some protection while enjoying the grounds and the golfers.

Protect yourself from the sun with sunscreen. SPF 30 or higher is recommended for long periods of activity outdoors. If you decide to wear a hat, make sure you only wear it forwards.

For rainy conditions where play can still go on, small umbrellas with sleeves are allowed throughout the course.

Permitted bags

If you want to carry certain permittable items into the tournament, you are limited to your carrying options.

Carrying bags larger than 10” x 10” x 12” are prohibited. You are allowed to use a clear plastic or vinyl bag up to 12” x 6” x 12”. While medically necessary bags and diaper bags are permitted, they will need to be inspected before you can enter.
